Hi Chris,
Here's a link to the Children's Ministry Forum's discussion on H1N1 - http://forums.group.com/Topic53735-4504-1.aspx
Lots of practical ideas and a CDC link on H1N1.

All of these were helpful. Really appreciated Michael's letter. Providing hope, reducing fear is the role for the church.

We had our first case of H1N1 right after school started. We notified all of our parents of kids who were in the same room as the infected child. I updated our well child policy to state that if anyone in your family has been sick in the last week, don't bring your children to church. Now I don't send emails out to parents letting them know there was an infected child in their rooms because I'd practically be sending out an email to all my parents every week. It's bad down here in Texas. I send out weekly updates reminding parents of our well child policy.

I don't watch CNN or whatever other news service as I don't have cable. I'm sure the hype machine is out there. Down here we all know this strain well as it's hitting everyone. My son had it last week, probably half of my church's staff has had it in their family. Seriously, everyone is getting it. However, a little girl here in Austin died this week. She got sick on Tuesday and passed away on Wednesday. I probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightning (twice) but I can tell you that I did breath a sigh of relief when my son's fever was gone.
